Mr. Norman was born on February 6, 1932, in Oak Grove, LA and passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024, in Oak Grove, LA. He is preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years, Johnnie Mae Ainsworth Sanders; granddaughter, LeAnne Russell; brother, Dean Sanders; sister, Earnestine Thompson; and parents, Cecil and Juliette Sanders.

Norman passed peacefully at home on April 21, 2024 in the presence of family.  He was a lifelong resident of West Carroll parish, only leaving after graduating from Oak Grove High School to fulfill his duty in the U.S. Air Force with an assignment to Seoul, Korea in 1953 during the Korean Conflict. After returning, he married his love, Johnnie Mae Ainsworth and they lived in San Marcos,Tx . He later relocated and finished the remainder of his term in Mississippi while completing his military duties at the Greenville Air Force Base, where he specialized in electrical training as well as air conditioning, heating & refrigeration. Being in the military was something Norman was most proud of and that he credits with making a big difference in his life. Along with service to the country, he was able to see the world and learn the skills needed to build successful businesses in Oak Grove— Sanders Air Conditioning & Heating and Sanders Ice Service. He won numerous awards and certificates for his accomplishments while in the Air Force. He used those same skills throughout his whole life. He also worked as a farmer for several years. Norman enjoyed hunting & fishing with his grandsons. He boastfully said he taught them everything they know about the outdoors. Also, he enjoyed cooking and was considered quite a chef. Every day he woke up with an agenda whether it was mowing his yard or tinkering on his many gadgets-He would rather fix it than buy new. He had to be working, using his hands and trying to figure something out. He enjoyed a challenge even into his 90’s .

Survivors include his children, Risa French and husband, Chris; Clay Sanders and wife, Kellye; Jan Reeves and husband, Noah; and John Ardis Mcmillon; grandchildren, Rodrick Russell and wife, Megan, Cole Russell and wife, Abby, Brooke Kirby and husband, Jeremy, Drew Johnson and husband, Adam, Stone Reeves and wife, Merrill, Natalie Reeves, Amy Brantley, and Mackayla McMillon; 13-great grandchildren; 2-great-great grandchildren; brother, Matt Sanders; and numerous nieces and nephews.
